Mustafapaşa’s Cultural Memory Is Being Digitized

Within the scope of the “Cultural Heritage Conservation with Local Stakeholders in Nevşehir, Türkiye” project, carried out under the coordination of the Digital Cultural Heritage Network and with the support of the Wikimedia Foundation, the data transfer workshop focusing on Mustafapaşa was completed, hosted by our center.

The workshop, held on April 24 at the Cappadocia University Mustafapaşa Campus, attracted great interest from hotel operators and tourism sector stakeholders operating in Mustafapaşa, as well as our university students. At the event, which brought together academia and local sector representatives, an interactive process was conducted on the preservation and digital documentation of the region’s cultural heritage.

Within the scope of the workshop, visual and textual data constituting the rich cultural memory of the region were integrated into Wikimedia projects to increase their visibility in the digital world. Through this data transfer process, enriched by the participation of local stakeholders, it is aimed to represent the historical and cultural values of Mustafapaşa accurately and sustainably on global platforms.

Supporting interdisciplinary interaction and local development, this project constituted a significant example of university-sector collaboration in the preservation of digital cultural heritage.
