Alev Alatlı’s Enduring Values Brought to the Stage by the “Onarımcılar” (Restorers) Circle

Inspired by the works and thoughts of Alev Alatlı, the Restorers Society, which aims to contribute to the intellectual development of the youth and pave the way for raising individuals who can approach the country’s issues with local and original perspectives, drew attention to the idea of ‘repair’ at the center of the society’s activities, and the responsibility to improve oneself, one’s environment, and social life.

Written and directed by Volkan Lafçı, who also took part as an actor, the play was brought to the stage based on the concepts of Reason, Morality, Justice, Decency, and Love, which Alev Alatlı emphasized over the years. The work, where our academics and students shared the same stage, appeared before the audience not merely as a theatrical performance, but as a journey of ideas inviting them to rethink humanity, society, and the future.

Prepared with this understanding, “The Restorers” reinterpreted modern humanity’s search for meaning, its relationship with values, and its social responsibilities on stage. Throughout the play, ancient values were treated not just as a conceptual framework, but as the fundamental pillars that make humans human, sustain societies, and build civilizations. The play, in which our students and academics acted together, united different generations on the same ground of ideas.

Having the opportunity to re-evaluate the vision of humanity and society shaped around the ancient values frequently emphasized by Alev Alatlı through art, the audience found the chance to reflect on the significance of these ancient values for modern humanity and social life with “The Restorers.”

The performance, to which our Sinasos Theater Society also contributed, was held with high attendance and was followed with great interest by the audience.
