Research on the Effects of Population Exchange on Space and Identity in Cappadocia

This scientific research project, supported by our university, was initiated as part of the studies planned to be conducted within our center on the occasion of the centenary of the Great Population Exchange that took place in 1923–1924 under the Lausanne Treaty. In this context, the aim is to examine the multidimensional nature of the population change that occurred after the exchange, with a particular focus on the Cappadocia region where our university is located. Within the framework of the phenomenon of “transformation in the region through exchange,” the aim is to comprehensively examine the subject from the perspectives of different disciplines such as urbanization, sociology, psychology, art history, architecture, tourism, folklore, and ethnology.
