Workshop on “Traditional Medicine in Anatolia”

Kapadokya University (KÜN) organized a special workshop focused on traditional healing methods, an important part of Anatolia’s cultural heritage, within the Kapadokya Research Center (KAM).

The event, titled “Traditional Healing in Anatolia: Plants, Charms, Music, Art, Healers, and Hearths,” examined the healing tradition from a multidisciplinary approach. The workshop featured sessions with Prof. Dr. Ekrem Sezik, President of the Turkish Phytotherapy Association, as the keynote speaker. Topics such as the place of herbal treatments in public health practice, the healing power of music and art, healing fires, and folk beliefs were discussed on a scientific basis.

The event was attended by academics and researchers from various disciplines, including folklore, history of medicine, pharmacy, public health, and anthropology.

In a statement made by the Cappadocia Research Center, it was emphasized that such studies not only produce scientific knowledge but also contribute to Cappadocia, a popular tourist destination, achieving its rightful position by highlighting its contribution to world healing and cultural history.

The workshop made a significant contribution to the mission of recording and passing on Anatolia’s deep-rooted cultural memory and healing traditions to future generations.
