An important training seminar for professional tour guides was organized by the Cappadocia Research Center (KAM) at Cappadocia University. The seminar, titled “The Role of the Cappadocian Fathers in the Construction of Christianity,” was completed with the active participation of guides from various cities across Turkey.
The main objective of the training was to ensure that participants, accompanied by experts in the field, understood the key roles played in Christian history by three important Church Fathers who lived in the Cappadocia region in the 4th century: Basil the Great, Gregory of Nyssa, and Gregory of Nazianzus.
In the theoretical part of the seminar, Prof. Dr. Turhan Kaçar and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Duygu gave presentations detailing the influence of the Cappadocian Fathers on early Christianity, the monastic system, and theology. On the last day of the three-day training, a regional tour themed “In the Footsteps of the Cappadocian Fathers” was conducted under the guidance of Byzantine art expert Prof. Dr. Nilay Çorağan.
During this field trip, participants visited important historical sites such as the Tokalı Church and the Church of St. Basil, allowing them to reinforce the knowledge they had gained during the seminars. The successful training concluded with a closing cocktail reception where participants were presented with participation certificates and diplomas.
