Comprehensive History of Religions Event from the Cappadocia Research Center KAM

Kapadokya University’s Kapadokya Research Center (KAM) organized a two-day seminar and conference series titled “Journey into the History of Religions with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Duygu.” The event drew increased interest in the subject due to Kapadokya’s status as an ancient land of faith and cultures.

On the first day of the program, held at the Oktay Sinanoğlu Conference Hall at Cappadocia University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Duygu gave a seminar in two separate sessions titled “The Boundaries of Religions in Antiquity.” In these sessions, the historical and cultural contexts of religion were examined in detail from an academic perspective.

The second day of the event was dedicated to a conference titled “What Do Religion-Politics Relations Show Us? An Assessment Based on the Example of Christianity.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu shared with the participants the process of integration with the Roman political system since the birth of Christianity and the complex relations between religion and politics.

The event, which was attended by a wide audience including the District Governor of Ürgüp, tourist guides, academics, and students, proceeded interactively with participants asking questions on topics they were curious about. In her opening speech, KAM Director Dr. Şükran Ünser emphasized that Cappadocia is an important geography where many beliefs and philosophies have blended together from ancient times to recent history.
