Kapadokya University’s Kapadokya Research Center (KAM) has added a new seminar series to its lineup, focusing on the main themes of Kapadokya’s cultural heritage. Prof. Dr. Haşim Şahin, Faculty Member of the History Department at Anadolu University in Eskişehir and Director of the Turkish World Application and Research Center (TÜDAM), gave an interesting talk titled “Daily Life in the Seljuk Period.”
The event, held on April 27, 2023, at the Mustafapaşa Oktay Sinanoğlu Conference Hall, took place in a more intimate, conversational atmosphere, moderated by KAM Director Dr. Şükran Ünser. Prof. Dr. Şahin shared striking details with the audience about daily life outside the palace during the Seljuk period in Anatolia, including the people’s way of life, social relationships, eating habits, and cultural practices.
The talk offered a new perspective on understanding the social fabric of Seljuk society beyond historical sources, while also providing important clues about Cappadocia’s social and cultural position during that period. The event reached a wide audience both through physical participation and via live broadcast.
