Our “KAM Talks” conference series continues into the new academic year. For our first conference—centered on the theme of Archaeology and Art History—we are hosting Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilsen Özdemir on October 22, 2026. Dr. Özdemir is a faculty member in the Department of Archaeology at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University and the Head of Excavations at the Ancient City of Sobesos. Located in Şahinefendi, Ürgüp, Sobesos sheds light on Cappadocia’s urban past during the Roman era through its mosaic-adorned structures, bathhouse, and rock-carved settlement layout. This event, where we will discuss the latest work at the site—which was granted “Presidential Decree Excavation” status in 2026—as well as the region’s archaeo-tourism potential, is open to everyone.
Time: 15:00 | Venue: Oktay Sinanoğlu Conference Hall, Mustafapaşa Campus.
The event is open to the public. To attend, please send an email to kam@kapadokya.edu.tr.
