The KAM Talks Series Continues

The “KAM Talks” series, organized by our center and aiming to highlight the cultural richness of the region, continues.

In this context, the series’ event themed “Archeology and Art History” focused on a critical topic in terms of Cappadocia’s visual culture. Dr. Metin KAYA, Research Assistant at Istanbul University’s Department of Art History, gave a lecture on “aniconic” decorations in Byzantine monumental painting, which are of great importance in terms of Cappadocia’s visual memory. The lecture, which examined examples of non-figurative decoration in Cappadocia during various periods of the Middle Ages and in its churches, was followed with interest not only by university students but also by professionals such as tourist guides who are interested in the subject.
